Books, Books, Books!!!!!!!

May we never loose sight of the Book of books! I had the awesome opportunity to preach this afternoon at a local assisted living home. The residents are so sweet and appreciative. The Spirit of the Lord always seems to be present in our meetings. Having read C.J. Mahaney's book, The Cross Centered Life, I chose one of the gospel texts he suggested for memorization (2 Cor. 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behald, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him ~nasb) and preached on it. I am in awe of God's grace in granting me what only Jesus deserves while He bore the penalty of what I deserve. Praise the Lord!

Yesterday the family drove up to Columbia to visit with family. My brother-in-law's father has a library of books they think they want to sell. The library is housed in the church, a donation from a belated minister of the gospel. My gestimate is that there are about 10,000 volumes in the library. Most are classic works. Very few from the past 20 years. The library is stocked with purtian reprints and hard to find works from the middle to late 1800's.

I was asked to look around and make a list of books I would be interested in purchasing. He would then get back with me on prices. I soon found that it would be easier to list the books in which I was disinterested. The library was purchased from a preacher so it is completely theological.

The library needs to be completely organized and CLEANED. The shelves are dusty and dirty, while many books are cocked at angles. Many books need repair (gluing, cleaning, dust-jacket protectors, etc.). I hope to be able to do some work on it this Thanksgiving. We'll see. I wish that I had the money to offer for it. We'll see.
