"My own attitude toward Christmas is that of delighting to take advantage of the day on which the whole Church celebrates the fact of the birth of our Lord. To me the festival is supremely one of joy, one in which all that we usually speak of as secular is recognized as sanctified, and so rendered sacred in the highest senses by the infinite mystery of the Incarnation. I feel that a Christmas Day is always of the happiest in which I have first foregathered with a congregation in adoring worship, and then have entered into the joy of the home and all its sanctified merriment."
