This doesn't fit into our normal Today in Church History series, but I'd like to note Andreas Köstenberger's brief article on the life and works of Albert Schweitzer (January 14, 1875 - September 4, 1965). This article can be found on his blog Biblical Foundations.
Schweitzer probably isn't your theological hero, but his work has greatly affected modern theology. The quest for the historical Jesus studies continue to this day and are carried on by the Jesus Seminar . Likewise, conservative evangelical scholars are continuing to press on in Jesus studies while offering criticism of the methods and conclusions of the Jesus Seminar. Some of the currents scholars involved in these studies are as follows: Jesus Seminar: John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg, and others; Evangelical Scholars: N.T. Wright, Ben Witherington, Craig Blomberg, Darrell Bock, and others. (These lists are simply representative and are the authors I've read on the subject.)
