PUBLISHER'S DESCRIPTION:

This resource provides a detailed survey and critique of various feminist interpretations of Jesus and offers a biblical view of men and women in the church and home.

The feminist movement has affected every aspect of political and social America, and Christians are becoming increasingly aware of how this movement has impacted the church.

The feminist movement has changed the way evangelicals view not only themselves, but also the very Word of God.

Jesus and the Feminists begins by offering a brief survey of the feminist movement, revealing the radical misunderstanding of Jesus that has resulted from this movement. Köstenberger then critiques the relevant works of well-known feminist scholars and the ways they interpret certain passages of Scripture related to Jesus and his approach to women.

This practical resource points the way to a better understanding of the biblical message regarding Jesus’ stance toward women and offers both men and women a biblical view of their roles in the church and the home.

  2. I'd like to be entered in the drawing, but since I won the last one, I'll let others take a turn.

I've read Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood by Piper and Grudem. I appreciate and often consult the CBMW web site.

  3. Please enter me in this drawing.

I have Piper & Grudem's book above, but have only read parts of it so far. I've also read Ryrie's The Role of Women in the Church, and Strauch's Men and Women, Equal Yet Different. These are worthwhile, but Piper & Grudem are more comprehensive.

  4. I'd be interested in this book, too. I've read a little about gender issues, especially by Grudem and Piper. Unfortunately I haven't sorted out egalitarianism and complementarianism yet. The topic is on my list of issues to study. The list is long (and getting longer).

Thanks for your efforts in edifying believers through this blog site.

Please enter me in the drawing for Margaret Köstenberger's Jesus and the Feminists: Who Do They Say That He Is?

As a leader in a reformed church I have struggled many times with the effects that feminists have on the church--not on just on how Scripture sees women but how they have interpreted Scripture to fit their arguments.

Thanks for the note. I think that this book will go a long way in helping those caught up in the feminist agenda as well as pastors seeking to guide their flocks.

Thanks to the others who wrote about Piper and Grudem's Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. See my follow-up post and the comments.

A book I have referred to over the years is the dated work of Susan Foh's, Women & the Word of God (1979). She confronts and works through the major problem--how to interpret key biblical texts raised by the feminists. It is important to note that she makes a distinction through the book between radical Christian feminists and biblical feminists. She understands that the "women" question in the church and home are complicated and will need time to study and work out. It would be interesting to see what exegetical and theological changes have happened since Foh wrote her book and the release of Margaret E. Köstenberger's Jesus and the Feminists: Who Do They Say That He Is?
